M+A provided programming, planning, architecture, and project management from feasibility through construction documents, expediting HCAI approval for this NPC compliance project. The work relocated the department’s 5th and 6th floors into a single East Wing space, with complex coordination alongside AB2190 INC 4 during concurrent design and abatement. Originally planned as a refresh, the scope became a full demolition and rebuild due to non-compliant conditions, including the addition of a new 2-hour corridor. In its final form, the project converted Room 1514 into a dedicated open storage area, upgrading walls and sprinklers to meet NPC requirements despite challenges such as limited wall access, incomplete as-builts, and asbestos-restricted zones.
